In 2009, the Spoke N’ Heart Collective organized the first ever Bicycle Leadership Training (BLT) to envision alternatives to the challenges of our society by participating in bike-related and social justice oriented workshops. We used the process of traveling on bike to give voice to issues and make effective change within our lives and communities.

The BLT was an experiential coming together of self-identified females who looked at the dynamic process of defining ourselves and what it means to be committed to bike touring and social justice. One key priority of the BLT was that the majority of participants be women of color. Our goal was for participants to bike away with ideas and skills on how to organize their own bike tours with a focus on social justice issues.  We’re sharing the skills we learned during the BLT on the Road to Detroit.  For more info on the 2009 ride, use the links below!
